About Me

My name is Joseph Weaver but I go by Joe. I'm an experimental psychologist and my research interests include motivation, emotion, decision-making, and how those processes influence self-regulation and success. These research interests align well with my goals as an educator. What students do in my class room is a result of what skills they've developed, what skills they can develop, and where the course assignments lie in their priorities. The best way to help students is to know each person.

I am collaborator to my core as I think that the greatest attributes of individuals are enhanced when they are supported in a group with shared goals. I consider my students as collaborators in the classroom and my student researcher as collaborators in the lab. I also collaborate with fellow faculty to enhance our projects by offering technology and statistical consultations.

In the pursuit of improvement through collaboration, I'm creating platforms to allow scientists to more easily communicate about and collaborate their work. The first project allows researchers to add review comments or discussion threads to their preprints. The Open Journals builds on this concept by offering a space for individuals to share in progress works or completed works with their scientific communities and the world at large.

I am grateful to live such a blessed and priviledged life with my wife and five children. We enjoy baking and eating those baked goods, being goofy, and playing with whatever we can get our hands on. Our 95 pound labradoodle and two cats are also in the mix making each day a lively adventure.
